August 2, 2010

Are you good at remembering birthdays and other special occasions? If not, Linda Edmonds may be able to help you out. In this episode of There’s Joy in the House, Joy interviews Linda, who gives her an introduction to SendOUt Cards. This software not only reminds you about your friends and relatives birthdays, anniversaries, and so on, but also allows you to personalize the cards, with your own handwriting font, pictures, and message, as well as automating the entire process. SendOut Cards prints your cards, stuffs the envelope, and mails the card for you, using first class mail. Even better, this is done for you for less than the price of a standard greeting card!

There’s Joy in Going Into Business

June 18, 2010

I visited with four friends who started a business called Glory Haus in 2008, and are going strong in 2010, with two of their husbands having joined them, even though their husbands called it a “good hobby” at first. Each member of the team has a different specialty area, and they have learned by asking questions extensively along the way. They have traveled to China, and monitor the product quality to be sure they meet their standards, and their customers stay happy.

There’s Joy in Reading Sarah’s Key

May 17, 2010

The first book that Joy’s book club discusses is Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. Incorporating real life events with fiction, the book dramatizes one of the little known tragedies of the Holocaust, the Vel’ d’Hiv roundup of thousands of Jews in Paris, France. This book, the first written in English by this author, raises many issues which Joy’s group discusses over cocktails.
