In this episode of There’s Joy in the House, Joy interviews Linda, who gives her an introduction to SendOUt Cards. There’s Joy in Going Into Business

June 18, 2010

I visited with four friends who started a business called Glory Haus in 2008, and are going strong in 2010, with two of their husbands having joined them, even though their husbands called it a “good hobby” at first. Each member of the team has a different specialty area, and they have learned by asking questions extensively along the way. They have traveled to China, and monitor the product quality to be sure they meet their standards, and their customers stay happy.

There’s Joy in Reading Sarah’s Key

May 17, 2010

The first book that Joy’s book club discusses is Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. Incorporating real life events with fiction, the book dramatizes one of the little known tragedies of the Holocaust, the Vel’ d’Hiv roundup of thousands of Jews in Paris, France. This book, the first written in English by this author, raises many issues which Joy’s group discusses over cocktails.

I had the extraordinary pleasure of chatting with 12 children who were creating flower masterpieces on canvas for their mom for Mother’s Day, assisted by Kathleen Brown, of DotDotPaint. Each child shared what was special about their mother, and what their plans were for breakfast and dinner on Mother’s Day.
