The third book that Joy’s book club discusses is “The Shack” by William Paul Young. The book is about a man named Mack, whose young daughter is kidnapped and brutally murdered, with her bloody clothes left in a shack, which the man visits and works through the meaning of suffering. The book was originally intended for the author’s children and close friends, and was rejected by 26 publishers. Finally, the book was published, became a paperback bestseller in 2008, and over 12 million copies have been sold as of 2010.
